The inmate in this photograph asked me not to use his name and said it is not just liberty that is lost but privacy and peace also. In a jammed jail, there is constant competition for personal space. Announcements blare non-stop from loudspeakers pushing one’s sanity to the edge.

In the Andalucian mountains, the toro de cuerda is an authentic, local affair unlike in bigger towns and cities where both Spaniards and tourists take part in the run. In the 21st Century, a great polarization exists between those that view the bull run a cultural right and others who view it as a form of base animal cruelty that should be stopped.
